What’s Up, Pussy Cat?

This kitten has been busy. Between moving offices, joining a gym, and being spotted in London Ontario nightclubs, it’s been a stacked couple weeks. Here’s what I’ve been up to!

1. The first stomach virus I’ve had in 14 years found me…I am still recovering (or possibly still ill). Naturally, I’ve been fighting it off with ginger, lemon, cinnamon, honey, and oranges.

2. You say nightclub picture, I say young at heart. Either way, it was my best friend’s birthday and we found ourselves dancing in a nightclub feeling like girls of 21 again.

3. There’s a new gym rat in town! I’m the latest Goodlife member and if you go to Goodlife Liberty Village, check out a Body Shred class.

4. Going from a white box to a lofty new office had turned my workspace into a colourful place I love. Complete with Forest Friends sticky notes 😉

5. Not always in front of the camera, I’ve been busy finding my behind the scenes groove at Gotstyle Woman. Note to self: make all photos the same size on all blogs. Starting now. Now I sound like my high school art teachers.

  • Have a hippie Christmas

On with the debt repayment, healthy lifestyle, active and positive thoughts, and carrying on everything I’ve built. But hey, Canadian winters are long so let’s throw in a lot of ice time!

The non-driver in me is ending, so this is finally the season it happens. I re-get my G1. Seriously, I want a big dog. And if I’m going to live easily with my pup, I need a fucking car. Or at least the ability to rent one.

Spring is always around the corner, especially when you’ve got runs to train for! Thanks to Moose Knuckles, winter will no longer be controlling my happiness, health, and fun. Go parka go!

And a very hippie Christmas, handmade cards, local or responsible gifts/packaging, giving back to less fortunate, all that good stuff. Smart consumerism!

Let’s Talk About Something You Like

“She is such a bitch.” 

“I hate when restaurants fuck up my order.”

“I don’t want to get up.”

I’ve got this brilliant idea that might even save lives. I call it “Let’s Talk About Something You Like” and I dare everyone to consciously talk about things they like, instead of things they dislike. So instead of waking up and grumbling about going to work, say something positive out loud. Maybe you’re grateful that you have a job, or you love the people you work with, or you’re simply excited for lunch time.

When I sat down to think about what I was going to do with this little blog, and my output in general, I felt incredibly foggy. Until I thought, hey, put all the negative stupid crap in this little planet of fuckery aside and write about positive things in your life. I could write forever about the plight of my gender, or the ridiculousness of fashion; but I should forever write about empowering things.

I have way too many positive things that deserve the energy it takes to write about them. And so does everyone. So whatever your awesome things are; paint them, draw them, write them, do whatever your output method is to get some good energy out there!

Fall 2012 Checklist: Updated

To keep with the spirit of making my own seasonal to-do lists, here’s the Fall 2012 list!

  • Run a half marathon
  • Knit a sweater (and wear it)
  • Quit smoking
  • Cook more
  • Be more positive and calm
  • Do yoga
  • Keep running
  • Keep writing
  • Be more active with art, culture, etc. in Toronto
  • Pay off debt

Through keeping my focus on health and experience, this’ll be another busy and happy season. Since I’ve done the half marathon and quit smoking, it’s time to get into the yoga studio and keep up the running. To go along with both physical changes and experience, this will be a season of healthy cooking and Pinterest meals.

If summer was a turning point, than fall definitely has some serious steam keeping the train going.

Health, wealth, and happiness!

Since when did it become winter?! Another productive season behind me, and I feel even more calm and positive. I have definitely quit smoking (even drunk smoking) and happily report that I don’t miss it or that gross smell. While my venture into hot yoga was outlasted by not smoking, I will definitely mix it into my routine weekly. Since last Monday I’ve been going on short lunch runs (3k) with a faster pace and easier run than pre-marathon running! Since I wasn’t big on eating out prior to this, cooking at home more was really about making time to prepare something. Even if it’s a package of oats. I save money and stay healthier! Instead of going for a sandwich the odd time before, I now go for a run every lunch.

Paying off debt is huge, I really needed to start and I just wasn’t before. Now I’ve buckled down and pay every month (and on time!). On the writing front, I bought a journal that I write in daily. It’s helping me move forward and let it all out. Every day, I find my mind less foggy and I am a happier person. It’s like when they tell you in yoga class to think without judgement, except to do that I have to write it out 😛

So onto winter we go, and no doubt will it be another productive one!

Revised* Summer 2012 Checklist

2011 was the summer of being single. Not just being single, but being single for the first time since I was 15. Apparently I am was a serial monogamist. I basically camped out at the beach until knowing I was “alone” wasn’t painful.

This summer, I’m still single, and this is the summer of living. Not because I’m dying, but because I feel like I need to live. So I’ve got a bunch of things to cross off the bucket list. And why not start this summer?

  • Jump off the pier (From a beach town, never jumped into the lake. Fear of surprise water).
  • Skinny dip
  • Get a tattoo
  • Have a beach fire (I don’t care if it’s illegal).
  • Maintain an incredible beach body not to be challenged by ANYONE
  • Take up golf
  • Get on my way to having my full license
  • Make friends and actually do things, golf, volleyball, camping, tennis, etc.

And of course, the usual get a darker tan than last year, go out a lot, and have a fuck load of fun. It’s a short list, totally do-able, thankfully I waste no time doing what I want to do.

Let’s get summer started!

Remember going to summer camp, or sitting in your backyard with your best friend and making friendship bracelets? If you’ve been anywhere on the internet lately, you’ll have noticed that this 90s trend is back in full force. So of course, the 90s child inside me really really wants to sit down outside with my friends, some music, and boozy summer cocktails to make some bracelets. I’m all over the arm party trend, so here’s a collection of bracelets I intend on making:

The basic friendship bracelet, Honestly WTF has great instructions if your skills are a little rusty. If you want to get really fancy with this idea, hit up Google where there’s thousands of crazy patterns.

To add some metal, these bead wrap bracelets also from Honestly WTF can be done with normal metal beads, or rhinestones.

And finally, the braided hex nut bracelet, which to me is like an adult friendship bracelet.
